Hey bud,two must haves: king tee act -act a fool and tim dog-penicillon on wax. I would love to hear your opinion on these two

I do remember King-Tee (down with the Liks crew) and I’ve only heard Tim Dog’s singles from POW. I’ll have to track those two albums down. Thanks for reading!

I love this site. How many times do you listen to the CD before giving your review? And do you only listen with headphones or do you play them in your car? Thanks.

    • deedub77's avatar deedub77 says:

Hey Kareem – I usually listen to an album a minimum of 5 times from beginning to end, spread out over one to two weeks, just to make sure my opinion isn’t formed on a day I’m just not in the mood to hear hip-hop (as much as I love the genre, that does happen). Most of the time it’s through headphones, but I do listen to some of the albums while in the car as well. Thanks for reading!

Hey! Any way to get some album reccomendations from you? I’d reach out to you with time periods looking for hip-hop artist reccomendations. Would you do that?

I appreciate reading your reviews of the old school holy hip hop from back in the day. Thanks for doing those. You give respect to the genre.

you made me go back and re listen to some of the albums you reviewed and I definitely missed some gems and I have a question, are you ever to going to expand into the 2000’s ?

    • deedub77's avatar deedub77 says:

The premise of my blog is to chronologically work my way through my vinyl and cd hip-hop collection. Right now I’m in 1997, so Lord willing, I’ll get to the 2000s someday. But maybe I’ll change my format someday.

Thanks for checking out the blog!

    Hi

Looking for an Album and came across your site and was wondering where you got the dates from, for the LP’s you review?

The reason for asking is that on my personal database for the records I own, I try to always add release dates to it, and always try to get the accurate info I can for it, instead of going of people’s memories as, as we get older peoples minds become fallible

    Thanks

    • deedub77's avatar deedub77 says:

Early on I would cross reference Amazon and Wikipedia for release dates, a method that I know wasn’t always accurate. I’ve also used a few hip-hop social media pages that post old albums and their release dates, and occasionally, I’ve relied on hip-hop history books (i.e., Chuck D’s This Day In Rap And Hip-Hop History). It’s definitely not an easy task to backtrack after decades.
